POD peat free soil improver is produced from green waste and other organic waste Scottish Water Horizons at the Deerdykes depot in Cumbernauld. Over 120,000 tonnes of green from local authority collections which will include your household if you have a brown bin, and your allotment if you use green waste link-tip cage, has been recycled into POD since 2005. Using a redunant waste water treatment site Deerdykes recycling plant has developed a highly controlled system to produce PAS 100 quality compost available to allotments in two grades.

Interested members from various Glasgow allotments visited the Deerdykes recycling plant, a full report with illustrations and pictures can be found here.
High quality potting grade 10mm and soil conditioner grade 20mm.
You can almost never add enough organic matter to your soil and on Glasgow clays thats very true. The soil conditioner grade is excellent for this. 10mm is a very fine grade and looks like good quality peat compost, good enough for seeds.
Delivery to allotments is via a 20 tonne load truck. Prices per 20 tonne load, delivered in Glasgow are -:
10mm grade - £225 + VAT
20mm grade - £165 + VAT
You must have access for this big lorry and a suitable place to deposit a very large load, but at a price from £8.25p per tonne (approx 20 barrowloads) its well worth considering. Plus you are using in a sustainable product from a sustainable source, greatly reducing land fill load and improving the texture, struture and quality of your soil.
